Over the past year, our network has continued to raise awareness, drive policy change, and stand alongside communities affected by TB. Every initiative we undertook brought us one step closer to our vision of a world free of TB.

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria’s eighth Replenishment is this year, with a global target of USD$ 18 billion. As the largest international funder of TB programming, we must ensure that Canada maintains strong support for this life saving mechanism. 

In 2022, a coalition of 14 Canadian organizations worked together over several months to influence Canada's pledge towards the 7th replenishment. Our advocacy helped secure a historic investment of $1.21 billion to the Global Fund. Let's join forces again and get creative in our advocacy to ensure Canada continues to step up in the fight to end the epidemics of HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria!

A collective letter to the European Commission is calling for a bold €800 million pledge to the Global Fund and your support is needed. The letter, which will be formally presented to Commissioner Jozef Sikela in mid-May, aims to show strong, united backing from across sectors. Add your voice by endorsing the letter by May 5.

The Stop TB Partnership’s Global Drug Facility (GDF) has announced a major 25% price reduction for pretomanid, a key drug used to treat drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB), lowering the cost from $224 to $169 per treatment course. This reduction is expected to save GDF clients over $3 million annually, while enabling high-burden countries to negotiate better prices and save their National TB Programmes an additional $5 million each year. This move follows similar price cuts for bedaquiline, linezolid, and moxifloxacin—components of the WHO-recommended BPaLM regimen—bringing the total cost of a full 6-month treatment to $310, down 47% from the 2022 price. These combined savings could total $37 million annually, significantly enhancing global access to DR-TB treatment. Learn more here.
