A year of impact: Stop TB Canada’s Annual Report

Each activity that the network engaged in this year- from promoting policy actions through our global and domestic campaigns to raising awareness through publications and conferences, and mobilizing advocates within communities affected by TB- all helped move the needle toward realizing our vision of a world without TB.

Stop TB Canada is a network that welcomes anyone who shares our passion and commitment to this vision of TB elimination. If you would like to get involved with Stop TB Canada, please refer to the last page of this report for all of the ways that you can connect with us. Together, we can end TB.

Act now: Canada needs a National TB Elimination Strategy

The Canadian government has committed to eliminating TB, yet progress towards this goal has stagnated in recent years. Over the past few months, the network has led a virtual campaign and met with several MPs regarding the importance of implementing an evidence-informed strategy that will address the TB burden across the country. We continue to call on the government of Canada to take action by establishing a National Tuberculosis Elimination Strategy. Read about our campaign here.

On World Health Day, the network sent this letter to Canada’s Minister of Health, highlighting the network’s evidence-informed recommendations for a National TB Elimination Strategy that is both effective and equitable- thank you to all of the Members of Parliament who have demonstrated their commitment to ending TB by signing onto this letter! We have not received a response from the Minster yet but will continue to advocate that our government take this leap towards eliminating TB across Canada.

Game changers for achieving Global Goals by 2030

Results Canada is having a National Conference this spring! On May 6-7, we will come together to focus on the game changers that are needed to get us back on track to achieving the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. You will be able to connect with volunteers and partners, learn new skills through interactive workshops, and hear from advocacy champions from around the world so you can grow your own advocacy strength.

Immediately following on May 8, you will have the opportunity to use your newly developed advocacy skills to meet with parliamentarians in a ‘Lobby Day’. Results Canada will support you to meet with Members of Parliament and Senators to advocate for global development. You don’t want to miss out on the action!
