Global Fund calls for US$18 billion to end AIDS TB & malaria

On Feb 23, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund) released its investment case for its seventh replenishment, calling for a minimum of US$18 billion to recapture the losses due to COVID-19 and get back on track to achieving the SDG 3 target of ending the epidemics of AIDS, TB and malaria by 2030. If this funding is secured, the Global Fund projects that an additional 20 million lives will be saved.

Annual TB Conference: The Union - NAR

Stop TB Canada is hosting a session at the Union NAR Annual TB Conference. This session is open to anyone, so you do not have to be registered for the conference to join. During this session, members of our steering committee will reflect on the state of TB programs in Canada, highlight current priorities, and open up for a discussion around what is needed most to end TB in the Canadian context.

WHO’s World TB Day online talk show

The World Health Organization (WHO) is organizing a special virtual talk show to commemorate World TB Day. This will put the spotlight on TB under the theme - ‘Invest to End TB. Save Lives’ to convey the urgent need to invest resources to ramp up the fight against TB and achieve the commitments to end TB made by global leaders.

Voices against TB

Students for Partners in Health Canada (SPIHC) and Results Canada chapters are partnering to present Voices Against TB in light of World TB Day in March.

Voices Against TB is a week-long series of education and advocacy events to address the burden of tuberculosis in Canada and globally.

McGill’s annual TB research day

The McGill International TB Centre and WHO Collaborating Centre will be hosting the 9th Annual Research TB Day this World TB Day.

The event will take place March 24 from 1:00 to 4.30 pm EST.

The pandemic has forced us to adapt and get creative in our advocacy, as typical in person engagement has been severely disrupted. With this in mind, we have worked with partners to create this interactive learning tool to explore the magnitude of disruptions to TB care and the domino effects that a TB diagnosis amidst the pandemic can have on someone’s life.
