The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria provides 3/4 of all international funding for TB. In countries where the Global Fund invests, TB deaths (excluding HIV-positive) have been reduced by 21% since the Global Fund was founded in 2002. The COVID-19 pandemic is threatening these hard-fought gains.

Now is the time for Canada to #FightForWhatCounts by contributing CAD$1.2 Billion to the Global Fund’s Seventh Replenishment this year. This pledge, alongside ambitious pledges from the U.S. and other donors, will enable Global Fund-supported programs to provide care to the millions of people affected by these epidemics, who need support now more than ever.

Stop TB Partnership’s 35th Board Meeting

Urgent calls for enhanced political commitment and funding to end TB by 2030 were made at the Stop TB Partnership’s 35th Board Meeting last week.

Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Health from 12 countries, high-level government officials, donors, technical experts, and representatives of TB-affected communities, civil society, and multilateral agencies agreed that the world could end TB by 2030 with strong political will and consistent funding. The devastating impact of COVID-19 on the TB response, especially in high TB-burden countries, can be reversed.
