Support the Global Fund's Eighth Replenishment

Ahead of the Global Fund’s Eighth Replenishment in 2025, Stop TB Canada and partners across the country are calling on the Government of Canada to continue its leadership in global health by making a strong and ambitious pledge to the Global Fund.

TB and the Global Fund

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is one of the world’s most effective mechanisms for ending infectious disease epidemics and strengthening health systems. Since its founding in 2002, the Global Fund has helped save 65 million lives, dramatically reducing deaths from TB, HIV, and malaria.

The Global Fund provides 76% of all international financing for TB programs and is the largest multilateral funder of global health systems. It supports efforts to:

  • Diagnose and treat TB, including multidrug-resistant TB

  • Scale up new tools and innovations, like rapid diagnostics and shorter treatment regimens

  • Train frontline health workers and strengthen lab systems

  • Address stigma, gender inequality, and barriers to accessing care

But that progress is at risk. Ongoing health threats, including drug-resistant TB, inequities in access to care, climate-related disruptions, and future pandemic threats, require urgent, sustained investment. And the global goal of ending TB as a public health threat by 2030 will slip out of reach.

The Global Fund’s Eighth Replenishment

The Global Fund is seeking to raise at least US$18 billion for its next three-year funding cycle (2027–2029). This investment would:

  • Save 23 million lives

  • Avert 400 million infections or cases

  • Reduce the combined death rate from AIDS, TB, and malaria by 64%

  • Strengthen health systems and pandemic preparedness

  • Deliver a 1:19 return on investment—resulting in over US$300 billion in health and economic gains

To #WinTheFight against TB, Canada’s continued support is critical.

The Ask

We call on Canada to continue to ambitiously support the Global Fund through a strong pledge towards its Eighth Replenishment.

Canada has been a consistent supporter of the Global Fund, recognizing its impact in saving lives and advancing gender equity, human rights, and health system resilience.

We are calling on the Government of Canada to:

  • Sustain and grow its investment in the Global Fund through a bold pledge to the Eighth Replenishment

  • Reaffirm its commitment to global TB elimination and global health equity

  • Ensure TB remains a top priority in multilateral global health efforts
